This was one the three first hip hop albums I bought back in 1997, I believe, the other two being Timbaland & Magoo's album and Snoop Dogg Doggystyle. I love Missy and have all her studio albums but this one holds a special place in my heart as i am sure it does for some of you out there in the blogosphere enjoy.....

The Bug
First I want to apologize for my lack of posting but I have been extremely busy getting home from Missoula and getting my job situated here in the MIL. Anyways Kevin Martin, aka The Bug aka a dozen other aliases, has been releasing music falling into different genres for the last decade. London Zoo was released last year and took three years for him to complete. He has some of the best grime MCs like Flo Dan and the Warrior Queen accompany him on this flawless album. If you like to hear MCs spit wicked fire over dubstep beats this is the album for you.

PANTyRAiD
I know it's it's been a while since I last rapped at ya, but I've been busy with a whole bunch of silly shit lately. In the meantime, here's a pretty rad minimix I stumbled across on the Mary Anne Hobbs program recently.
PANTyRAiD is a west-coast hip-hop/bass/dubstep duo comprised of and Ooah (from Glitch Mob) and Marty Party (be sure to check out Marty Party's myspace. some smooth digital hip-hop gems on it.) They've got an EP and album dropping in the next month or so. Until then, click the link for a quick shot of PANTyRAiD's magic.

Ras G
Earlier this year, Ras G released a full length LP for the soon to be legendary Brainfeeder collective. His beats have more vocals and broken beats and bleep blops than even Flying Lotus; very experimental. With influences ranging from Cannonball Adderly to DJ Spinna & Prefuse 73, Ras G combines an ecclectic mix of broken beats and jazzy interludes all landscaped by a psychedelic R2D2 unit. Definitely headphone music, preferably stoned.........for Ras G, Flying Lotus and SamiYam's myspace, just click on the new Ques drawings on the right hand margin toward the bottom.....(Ques myspace has a bunch of links for mixes)

Iron Horse
Iron Horse is a bluegrass foursome out of one of the legendary recording capitals of bluegrass Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Although I do not particularly care for bluegrass in my day to day life I do find the cover albums these guys do are great to listen to. They cover famous albums from the likes of Guns N' Roses, Black Label Society, The Shins and Ozzy....Here I have provided their bluegrass tributes to Metallica and Modest Mouse.....The Modest Mouse one is really tight and i have not finished listening to the Metallica tribute yet but it sounds pretty good thus far so here you go......These are for Nate (Big Red) who hates "techno"

Jazz Anyone?
I'm going to contradict the tagline of this blog for the second time and bring to you not new, but old music. This is currently my favorite jazz album. I'll throw it on while cooking or on a morning cruise with Keller, my golden retreiver. Duke Ellington and Johnny Hodges bring us upbeat and eclectic sounds from good old 1959.
Duke Ellington piano
Johnny Hodges alto saxophone
Ben Webster tenor saxophone
Roy Eldridge, Harry "Sweets" Edison trumpet
Lawrence Brown trombone
Les Spann flute, guitar
Billy Strayhorn piano
Al Hall, Wendell Marshall bass
Jo Jones drums

MOAR MOAR
This mix is undeniably hott. The first track is probably my favorite but the entire thing is banging. I'm not too savvy when it comes to categorizing music but I'd say it's in the realm of dubstep. Cold Legistics
Cold Legistics' Deeper Than You Think: Instrumental EP 2009 will most definitely wow any listener. Fixated with sampling, Cold Legistics properly places snipits from all over. In the song Protect Your Investments, there is one of the greatest samples I've heard. Carlton from The Fresh Prince explaining how he lost his virginity. Absolutely Awesome. Other than my love for late 90s sitcoms, the music produced would definitely make his idol, The Late JDilla, undeniably proud.

Old School Funk
So I just downloaded this album like two days ago, it's Cymande's self titled album from 1973. I was cruising in the Mil listening to 91.7 WMSE and this song comes on that I know from somewhere. It hits me, it's from one of my favorite movies, The 25th Hour, A Spike Lee Joint with Edward Norton. It's from the scene when the high school girl is floating around the club rolling on E. The song is Bra. The rest of the album is solid funk, but Bra is definitely some ear candy that I'll be floating to when I run the marathon in 8 days. Enjoy!

Holt Goes To Hollywood
Well I must give credit to my boy Evan for introducing me to Hollywood Holt. Holt Goes to Hollywood is his first and only (I believe) album. Fire beats, catchy rhymes, and seamless transitions makes this a cruising staple. Plus he throws in a classic Cool Kids track so you know it's hott. He was in Miltown at the Rave opening up for someone I've never heard of on Friday. Should have gone just for Holt...
