The Emperor Machine (redux)

And now for something completely different...

Since it's summertime, I figured I'd post something other than club music for once. The Emperor Machine is the nom de guerre of Andy Meecham (of Chicken Lips fame (though I use the term "fame" rather loosely here)). The proper Emperor Machine albums are themselves consistently great. It's usually a jumble of funky styles, from krautrock to left-field jazz to afro funk. Not surprisingly, this mix he recently put together for FACT magazine is a funky/psychadelic tour through his varied influences.

1. Nina Nardini - Afro-Beat
2. The Natural Yogurt band - Voodoo
3. The Fitzcarraldo Variations - Gamma Modelo
4. Bajka - The Only Religion I Believe
5. The Starlights - Mao Mao
6. The Natural Yogurt Band - Soft Cheese
7. Snakefinger - What Wilbur
8. Dynastie Krisis - Faust '72
9. C.C.S. - Brother
10. Spin - Grasshopper
11. Venus Gang - Love To Fly
12. Antonio Carlos & Jocafi - Desacato
13. Dory Previn - Mary C. Brown and The Hollywood Sign (Emperor Machine Mix)

Right Click etc.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Sorry for getting your hopes up. FACT has a shitty policy of taking mixes down after three weeks. You just missed your chance. Early bird and what have you.

To make up for it, here's another mix of Emperor Machine selections (though they're only picks from the label he's on).

One last thing, if you missed out on the above mixtape, go get The Natural Yogurt Band album. As Helf would say, it's super headie.
